Pastor Jan Deans

Pastor Jan Deans has been Senior pastor at Friendship Baptist Church since 2016, but he has been in service to Christ in active ministry since he was 19 years old. Working in church leadership since 1982, he has held various positions such as associate pastor, student pastor, trustee, and senior pastor.  Additionally, Pastor Jan has remained a bi-vocational minister, managing and operating businesses and maintaining successful operation of his personal businesses for over a decade.  This experience shows today in Pastor Jan's commitment to proper stewardship while also building a culture of fiscal accountability and confidence with the membership. 
Those who know him speak of his transparency as a man of God, devotion as a caretaker of the congregation, and passion for studying and teaching the Word.  Pastor Deans displays a true love for the people of FBC and the congregation has a heart for spreading the gospel through both local, national, and  international missions which shows in the steady growth and connections in the congregation. 
His life-long love for learning drove him to earn a Master of Divinity in 1982 and continues through to his current enrollment in the ThM and PhD programs at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.  
Past Volunteer and Service include multiple Gaston County boards as well as a national committee in DC - a display of  his commitment to local service and involvement in organizations that support useful agency.   He is a loving husband, father to four grown children, and grandfather to five grandchildren.
